Our story
Hi, we're the mom & daughter behind Sugar Rush
How it started
Sugar Rush Bakery began with family birthdays: a cake for a cousin, cookies for a baby shower, a dessert table for a quinceañera. People kept asking who made them, and in 2020 we started taking orders. [PLACEHOLDER: Paloma to edit — the real story, in her words]
"Paloma" means dove in Spanish, which is why our little dove wears a chef's hat. [PLACEHOLDER: Paloma to edit — who Paloma is, and why the name]
How we work
Everything is made to order in our home kitchen, so your cake is baked for your date, not pulled from a display case. We decorate by hand, one order at a time, and we keep our calendar small so every order gets our full attention.
We bake under Arizona's cottage food law. That means we bake at home, label every item with its full ingredients, and hand your order to you ourselves. You can read exactly what that means on our cottage food page.
What we love to make
Our favorite projects are the ones with a story behind them.
- Vintage heart cakes covered in piped frills, pearls and bows
- Sugar cookie sets for showers, birthdays, graduations and office parties
- Breakable chocolate hearts packed with treats
- Conchas, cakesicles and anything with a little Mexican-American sweetness
With love (and sprinkles),
